Air Travel

University Travel and SC'96 are offering discounted airfares on United Airlines and USAIR. USAIR and United are offering 10% off all nonrestricted fares and 5% off all restricted fares. Discounts include domestic and international travel. Travel arrangements should be made as early as possible to secure the lowest possible fare.

Car Rentals

Avis Rent-a-Car is the official car rental agency for SC'96. Special weekday rates range from $29.99 to $41.99, premium and weekend rates range from $16.49 to $25.49. To make your car rental reservation, contact University Travel or call Avis directly at 800-331-1212. Refer to Avis Worldwide Discount #A422399 for discounted rates.

Rates are available one week before and one week after the conference dates. The car must be returned to the same renting location or additional charges will apply. All rates include unlimited free mileage.

Hotel Registration

All room reservations for SC'96 must be made through The Pittsburgh Housing Bureau. To make your room reservation, mail or fax the housing form to the housing bureau no later than October 16, 1996. When the form is processed, you will receive an acknowledgement from the housing bureau, followed by a confirmation from the hotel.

No telephone reservations will be accepted by the housing bureau.

If you need to make a change or cancellation before October 16, 1996, call or fax the information to the housing bureau (not the hotel), clearly indicating changes or cancellations. After October 16, 1996, all changes must be made directly with the hotel. For cancellations, you must notify your hotel no later than November 16, 1996.

Local Transportation

SC'96 is providing shuttle service to/from the convention center and conference hotels and to/from the convention center and SC'96 activities.

All conference hotels provide shuttle service to and from the airport for a fee. Click here for a list of hotels and rates. Taxi service from the airport to the Downtown area is approximately $28; to Greentree $24; to Oakland, $30. The Greentree Marriott is the only hotel that provides a courtesy van to and from the airport.

The Airlines Transportation Company (Airport Express) provides shuttle service between the Pittsburgh International Airport and Downtown hotels. The fare is $12 one way; round trip tickets are available at a discount. The average driving time from the airport to downtown is 25-30 minutes.
