The business center offers services to assist you in preparing programs, receiving and sending packages, and copying documents. Secretarial services are available, along with desktop publishing, fax and modem capabilities.

Coat And Bag Check

Check your coat and bag at the Coat and Bag Check station, located in the lobby of the convention center. Coat and bag check hours are the same as registration and conference store hours.

The SC'96 Conference Store is the source for conference-related merchandise, tickets for social activities, copies of tutorials notes and SC'96 Proceedings.

Copies of the SC'96 Proceedings on CD-ROM and Tutorial Notes are available at the Conference Store upon presentation of the ticket(s) provided in your registration packet.

The Conference Store and Registration are open the following hours:

First Aid/Security

Emergency medical technicians are available on the first floor of the convention center. For paramedics, use the house phone and dial ext. 152; for house security, dial ext. 160.

Electronic Mail Rooms

Workstations with Internet access for e-mail are available for conference attendees in Rooms N3 and S5 of the convention center. In addition, 10BaseT connections will be available in each room for attendees who wish to use portable or laptop computers.

Message Center

The message center is located in Room N3, Level 3, convention center. Messages will be posted on a board outside this room so that attendees can easily retrieve them. The message center will be open the same hours as the electronic mail rooms.

Proceedings Service

SC'96 Proceedings are available on CD-ROM and on the WWW at: http://www.supercomp.org/sc96/proceedings/. To facilitate access to the proceedings during the conference, we offer the following special services:

Tutorials Passport

Seating at the tutorials, with proper confirmation, is on a first-come, first-served basis. You may sit in on as many tutorials as you like for the day(s) you are registered, but you will receive only the notes associated with the tutorials for which you explicitly enroll.

Tutorial Notes

To receive your tutorial notes, take your tutorial notes ticket to the Conference Store. You will be given the notes associated with the particular course for which you registered. If you purchased a Tutorials Passport, you may purchase extra copies at half price from the Conference Store. If you did not purchase a Tutorials Passport, you may purchase tutorial notes at the full price, and they will be mailed to you after the conference.

Exhibits Only Passes

Exhibits Only passes ($40) allow entrance to exhibit floor for three days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Exhibits Only passes will go on sale Tuesday at 7:30 a.m.

Children 12-16 may purchase Exhibits Only passes for $40. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times; children under age 12 are not permitted on the exhibit floor at any time. media relations

Convention Center

The SC'96 Press Room offers a full-service, state-of-the art support center for members of the media. The press room has telephones, fax machines and computers (Macs and PCs) for accessing e-mail and the World Wide Web and a skilled staff of volunteers. Electronic press kits from SC'96 exhibitors are available for the media.

Press Conference

A press conference will be held for the media on Monday at 6 p.m. in the press room. Conference speakers will be on hand to field questions from the press.

Bus Schedule

Buses run every 20 minutes (at peak times) between conference hotels and the convention center. Service will begin on Saturday and continue through Friday. Copies of the schedule are available at the conference hotels and also in your conference registration bag.

Opening Reception

Convention Center

The Opening Reception for SCÕ96 provides attendees with a preview of the exhibition floor, a showcase of high performance computing and communications in research and industry.

The reception is free to those registered for the Technical Program. Tickets for the Open House Reception are $45 and can be purchased at the Conference Store in the convention center.

Carnegie Science Center
One Allegheny Avenue

The conference reception is free to all Technical Program registrants. In addition to great food and drink, the Carnegie Science Center will take you on an amazing interactive journey through more than 250 exhibits and hands-on experiences. Additional tickets are $55.

Buses depart from the convention center to the Carnegie Science Center beginning at 6:15, continuing until 8:00 p.m. They will run regular routes from the science center to conference hotels and the convention center from 8:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.
