Education Program
Poster Presentations
POSTER PRESENTATION DESCRIPTION
Each team is invited to display posters highlighting research
or activities in which they are involved. Posters allow presentation
of research results in a casual setting, with the chance for
in-depth, one-on-one dialogue that can proceed at its own
pace and offer the opportunity for more direct feedback to
presenters. This years poster reception will take place
on Saturday, November 15, 2003, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm during
the SC2003 Education Program reception. The location is the
Lobby of the Hyatt Hotel.

SESSION FAQs
Who is the audience for the Poster Session?
Other participants in the SC2003 Education Program as well
as the general conference committee will make up the audience
of the Poster Session. The participants are K-12 in-service
or pre-service teachers and undergraduate faculty from a variety
of disciplines. The poster session will be held at the opening
Education Program reception, Saturday night, November 15,
2003, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Lobby of the Hyatt
Hotel a short walk from the Phoenix Civic Center.
How can I transport the poster?
Airlines provide boxes into which the poster can be placed
for the flight. You should contact your airlines to confirm
this and ask how it impacts the number of bags then check
at the ticket desk for the box. SC Education Program takes
no responsibility for the transport of the poster.
Will the poster be displayed throughout
the conference?
The poster will not be displayed throughout the conference.
Someone should dismantle it and remove it immediately after
the poster session/reception.
What is the purpose for having a poster
session?
A poster session gives an educator or researcher an opportunity
to share his/her special activity or research. Others involved
in the conference can communicate with the educator or researcher
on a one-on-one basis where more information can be shared
with the participants. Your goal is to engage other participants
in a conversation where you can describe your research or
activity.
Do I need handouts?
You are not required to have handouts but if you do provide
handouts to the participants remember that they will have
limited space to take home all the handouts they receive at
the conference. A small handout that also provides contact
or website information is probably best.
Is it permissible to have a poster even
if not all the authors attend the conference?
Yes, but at least one author must be available during the
Poster Session to stand by the poster and answer questions.
