SC2002,
under the theme "From Terabytes to Insights,"
will be held Nov. 16-22 in Baltimore, MD.
RECORD NUMBER OF EXHIBITORS SET FOR SC2002
This year's conference will have the largest number
of Industry and Research exhibitors in the 15 years
since the conference was established. The exhibits,
which open the evening of Monday, Nov. 18, with a special
two-hour gala event, include 104 Industry exhibitors
and another 105 Research exhibits. According to Don
Collier, head of exhibit management, there are more
on the waiting list and his firm is looking to squeeze
out more floor space to accommodate them.

list of Industry exhibitors can be found on the Industry
exhibits page in the exhibits section of the web site
and the lineup of Research exhibits is on the Research
exhibits page. The lists are being updated everyday,
so please be patient if your company or organization
is not on the list.
REMINDER: ADVANCE REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY,
OCT. 11
The deadline for registering at reduced rates is fast
approaching and attendees who wish to sign up for the
lower conference fee need to submit their registration
form and payment by 5 p.m. (Eastern time) Friday, Oct.
11. Depending on the type of registration desired, signing
up by Oct. 11 can save you $150 or more. For more information

GRID COMPUTING WORKSHOP TO BE HELD IN CONJUNCTION
WITH SC2002
Registration is now open for the Third International
Workshop on Grid Computing, which will be held Monday,
Nov. 18, in conjunction with SC2002. GRID 2002 is an
international meeting that brings together the grid
community of researchers, developers, practitioners,
and users. The objective of GRID 2002 is to serve as
a forum to present current and future work as well as
to exchange research ideas in this field. GRID 2002
will have a special focus on Grid Applications.
SC2002
attendees who register for the technical program will
also be able to attend this workshop as part of their
registration. More information about the workshop can
be found in the Attendees section of the SC2002 web
site at .
SC2002 EXHIBITOR VIDEO SHOWCASES CARRY MESSAGES BEYOND
THE SHOW FLOOR
The SC2002 Netcasting team we will be gathering content
from the SC2002 Exhibition and broadcasting it to remote
viewers via the Internet. These Netcasts, called Exhibitor
Showcases, will be 5-10 minute edited and produced video
presentations that will be made available via the SC2002
web site. The Netcasts mobile camera crew is seeking
high performance computing and networking technology
and application demonstrations on the SC2002 exhibition
floor throughout the week of the conference.
The
number of netcasts will be limited this year, so if
your organization would like to participate, fill out
and return the Exhibitor Netcast Release Form as soon
as possible. For an online form or a printable PDF,
go to and click on "netcasts." Fifteen-minute
time slots for filming will be arranged during the normal
operating hours of the exhibition.
The
deadline for submissions is Oct. 15, 2002. Selected

NEED EXHIBITOR BADGES? NOW IS THE TIME TO ORDER THEM
If you are part of an organization that will be exhibiting
at SC2002, now is the time for your company or institution
to order Exhibitor badges, which give the bearer access
to the exhibits area, but not the technical program
sessions. Information and forms for ordering Exhibitor
badges are on the web.

FAMILY DAY TO BE HELD THE AFTERNOON OF WEDNESDAY,
NOV. 20
If you have friends or family who will be in the Baltimore
area during the SC2002 conference, you will be able
to bring them into the exhibits area between 4-6 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 20. All guests must be escorted by a
registered conference attendee at all times.
